Board Foot Calculator

Convert lumber dimensions into board feet, the standard unit hardwood is priced by, plus the rough weight of the order.

A board foot is 144 cubic inches of wood, for example a piece one inch thick, twelve inches wide, and one foot long. Enter the nominal thickness and width in inches, the length in feet, and the quantity of identical pieces to get total board feet and weight.

Estimated weight

Estimate only. Weight uses an average dry hardwood density of about 35 lbs per board foot and varies by species and moisture.
