Stair Calculator
Work out the number of steps, the rise and run of each step, the total run, and the stringer length from a total height to climb.
Measure the total rise, the vertical distance from the lower floor to the upper one, in inches. The calculator aims for a comfortable rise near 7.5 inches per step and a 10.5 inch run. Leave desired steps blank to let it choose, or set a number to match an existing layout.

Estimate only. Check your local building code for allowed rise and run limits. A comfortable rise is usually about 7 to 7.75 inches.
