Roofing Material Calculator
Work out how many shingle bundles and accessories your roof needs from the building footprint and pitch, including starter strip, ridge cap, underlayment, ice and water shield, drip edge, and nails.
Enter the footprint, which is the area the house covers on the ground, not the sloped roof area. The calculator applies a pitch factor to get the true roof area, then adds a waste allowance for cuts and overlaps. Roofers buy shingles by the square, where one square covers 100 sq ft and usually takes three bundles.

Estimate only. Accessory counts use perimeter and ridge estimates from the footprint and will vary with roof shape. Always confirm with a supplier takeoff.
